How to fill a PDF form without installing an app
- Choose the PDF. It opens locally in your browser. Your document and answers are not uploaded.
- Fill the fields. Text fields, checkboxes, radio options and selection lists appear beside the page. Use the page selector for a longer form.
- Add text if the PDF has no fields. Choose “Add text box,” type your answer and click the page to position it. You can also enter the left and top position as percentages, and change the font size.
- Review, then download. “Review filled PDF” shows the actual saved appearance. Check every page, then download the filled copy. Your original file is unchanged.
Why can’t I type into my PDF?
Some PDFs contain interactive form fields. Others are ordinary page layouts or scans that only look like forms. This tool detects supported interactive fields automatically. On a flat or scanned form, added text boxes place new text over the page without needing OCR or a desktop editor.
Added text does not change the original printed wording or erase anything underneath. It is not a redaction tool. To tick a box on a flat form, you can place a small X inside it.
Will my answers still be editable?
Existing PDF form fields keep their saved values and remain interactive in compatible PDF readers. Text that you add directly to a flat page becomes regular PDF page content. It will not become an interactive field when reopened. Keep your original if you may need a different version later.
What should I check before sending the completed form?
Check all pages for missing answers, text that is too small or clipped, and text boxes that cover the wrong area. Fields marked required come from the PDF; the tool allows you to download a partly completed form. It does not run automatic calculations, validate your answers against an organization’s rules or submit the form for you.
Which PDFs work?
Use an ordinary, unlocked PDF up to 20 MB and 100 pages, with up to 250 form fields and 50 added text boxes. Password-protected or encrypted documents, already digitally signed PDFs and XFA forms need another PDF application. Signature fields and other special controls are preserved but cannot be filled here. This tool does not create digital signatures.
New answers use a locally served font supporting Latin text, numbers and common punctuation, including characters such as ä, õ and ü. Unsupported characters, including emoji and other scripts, produce an error rather than silently disappearing. Some unusual forms and complex field appearances may still need their original PDF application.
What if my form is a Word document?
For a .docx file, use the Word form and text editor. It edits supported paragraphs, table cells and checkboxes and saves a Word copy. Choose this PDF tool when your source and required result are PDF files.
Where is my PDF saved?
The document stays in this browser tab while you work. There is no account, cloud copy, share link or saved session. Closing, refreshing or choosing “Close & clear” removes the working copy from the tool. Download your filled PDF before leaving, and check your browser’s downloads folder for the file ending in -filled.pdf.
